Equation Fitness in Focus: British Weight Lifting Talent Academy

Equation Fitness is one of British Weight Lifting’s Talent Academies which are clubs actively engaged with British Weight Lifting to ensure that young athletes are provided with safe, supportive and inclusive training environments and that they can get access to high quality coaching, that aligns to British Weight Lifting’s long term athlete development (LTAD) strategy.

Based in Cornwall Equation Fitness run kids and teen classes every evening of the week after school (and during summer holidays in the morning) and these sessions are open to all abilities. They also have strength and conditioning sessions right up to advanced talent academy sessions. 

Equation Fitness work with a number of primary and secondary schools in the area to introduce the sport to the next generation. The club have a number of lifters on British Weight Lifting regional squad and have athletes that have won national youth titles.

“We are super excited to be working with British Weight Lifting as one of the selected Youth Talent Academy’s in the UK.

We regularly see our athletes benefit from this opportunity, having some of our youth lifters in the regional squad helps others work towards that level.

Using the BWL webinar series and involvement with the community of practice over the last 18 months, our coaches have been able to keep up to date with the latest research to assist in supporting our athletes to reach their full potential.
