Weightlifting Wales is looking to appoint a Head Coach. The work location is flexible. 104 days per year. The salary is £30,900 per annum for 0.40 FTE (Actual £12,360 per annum).

As Head Coach you will deliver key elements of the Weightlifting Wales strategy for building champions

- Support the progression of athletes & coaches within the pathway,
- Prepare for Regional, Development, National squads and international events,
- Support the development of an inclusive athlete pathway, creating environments where athletes and coaches can thrive,
- Support the planning of development and performance projects which support athletes, coaches and parents,
- Create and maintain an elite performance environment,
- Embed equality and diversity across all programmes and maintain a duty of care to athletes and coaches,
- Uphold the organisational values of Weightlifting Wales and contribute to the working and welfare of the athletes in Wales,
- Support selection of athletes at performance meetings,
- Contribute to performance, development and staff meetings,
- Support volunteer coaches with mentoring at training camps and events.

- Lead coach at National training camps and at international events.
- Assist at development camps and at development international competitions.
- Lead coach at regional squads (one day squads)
- Liaise with National athletes
- Lead performance reviews with National athletes, providing support and guidance


The successful candidate will have extensive experience in coaching at elite and development levels, and at leading Weightlifting teams at training camps and international events. A sound knowledge of training methodologies, principles behind the long-term development of athletes practice are essential requirements.

The successful candidate will have outstanding people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others. They will be able to develop trusting working relationships with athletes, parents, professional and volunteer staff from multiple agencies.

They must have a valid driving license, enhanced DBS, a valid safeguarding certification and obtain a British Weightlifting coach license within 6 months of starting in post.

Being a Welsh language speaker, experience of coaching Para Powerlifting and a minimum of 3 years in coaching Weightlifting would be desirable

Job Title: Marketing and Communications Executive
Salary: £25,000
Hours: Full time (37.5 hours)

Noting the nature of an National Governing Body, the role may require work outside of normal business hours including weekends.

Job Purpose

 Create and manage digital content across multiple platforms including websites, social media and email marketing.

 Write content to amplify good news stories, shout about our achievements and deliver engaging content to make it appealing to wide ranging audiences.

Key Responsibilities:
• Write content and produce graphics for social media channels and schedule posts via the Hootsuite platform.
• Help to maintain and grow our social media presence and drive engagement across the channels by generating innovative content and analysing using recognised techniques.
• Monitor, listen and where appropriate respond to what is being said via social media channels.
• Generate content and creative for email communications and send out to agreed lists, ensuring correct data segmentation is applied.
• Ensure new content is uploaded to the British and England websites and that they are both kept up to date with correct links and reviewing/archiving old content as required.
• Help to develop and deliver an effective and appropriate digital communication programme including web, email and social media by researching other NGBs/sporting organisations and making recommendations for improvement.
• Assist in the creation and implementation of campaigns that drive people to participate or engage in the sports and the wider strength, fitness and health sector.
• Devise, produce and distribute creative, high quality, accessible digital content (including digital images, graphics, video, audio and web-friendly copy).
• Support the competition and performance teams by developing and posting athlete-led content pre, during and post competitions.
• Ensure consistent and accurate use of the British and England brands.
• Manage a range of new projects where required, sometimes working autonomously.
• Ensure efficient administration, file management/archiving and produce regular updates and reports.
• Support the wider business with any projects requested.
• Demonstrate commitment and behaviours in line with the BWL values.
