Call for Expressions of Interest: EWF Technical Officials Seminar and Workshop 2026

The European Weightlifting Federation (EWF), in conjunction with the Nordic Weightlifting Federation (NWF), will hold an ITO Seminar and Workshop in Haugesund, Norway from 20 –
22 November 2026, alongside the 2026 Nordic Youth, Junior and Senior Championships.

BWL is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced International Technical Officials who wish to be considered for nomination. To be eligible, British Officials must have officiated at least three (3) national events during the preceding twelve months. 

Each EWF Member Federation may nominate one Category 1 or Category 2 ITO to attend free of charge, with hotel accommodation and food covered by the NWF through EWF funding. 

The seminar will review the TCRR, with particular emphasis on commonly recurring issues, while the workshop will focus specifically on the responsibilities of the Competition Manager and Technical Controller. On 21 November 2026, participating ITOs will rotate through the different technical official positions during the Nordic Championships, with coaching, feedback and discussion provided throughout. Category 1 examinations will also be available. 

Those wishing to be considered should submit their expression of interest to BWL no later than 1200hrs, 24 September 2026, by email to: competitions@bwl.sport 

Nominations will be assessed and prioritised by the BWL Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Events Operations Manager.

IMPORTANT 

BWL will determine which officials it nominates; however, final acceptance remains subject to the EWF selection process. The EWF has advised that, in making its selections, it will seek to achieve an appropriate balance between male and female ITOs. 

Applicants should also note that EWF funding covers hotel accommodation and food. BWL's nominated ITO may be required to meet the cost of their own flights to and from Norway.
