Records Break and Close Contests at BUCS 2024

The competition ignited when Nikole Roberts set new British records in the 49kg category, with a snatch of 68kg and a clean & jerk of 82kg, culminating in a record total of 150kg. She also set records in both the U20 and U23 age groups. The Red platform witnessed some tight contests, with Hollie Biggerstaff narrowly clinching victory by just 1kg over Annalise Spahr in the 59kg category, and a mere 6kg separating the top four in the 64kg category, with Clarissa Mullem emerging victorious.

The Blue platform featured equally close competitions. In the 81kg category, which had an impressive 44 entries, James Godden secured first place by a slim margin of 1kg over Demetris Petroudes. In the 102kg category, Henry Axon and Josh Hutton competed closely until Josh had to withdraw from his third clean and jerk attempt due to injury. We extend our best wishes for Josh’s swift recovery and congratulate Henry on his win.

Day two continued to excite as more British age records were shattered on the Red platform. Isabella Brown led the way in the 76kg category with a record snatch of 97kg, a record clean & jerk of 120kg, and a total of 217kg, setting new benchmarks in both the U20 and U23 age groups. Funmi Morgan also set new U23 records in the clean & jerk (114kg) and total (204kg) within the 81kg category.

Our heartfelt congratulations go out to all the record-breakers. We extend our sincere thanks to Brunel University, our gracious hosts, and especially to our dedicated technical officials and loaders, without whom this event would not have been possible.
