Progression

In April 2021 UKS awarded BWL with funding to establish the strong foundations required for a future a world class programme that can support athletes with the potential to win medals at Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032. Funding will support BWL to deliver 3 agreed progression strategies:

  1. Change the way we support athletes of High potential
  2. Raise the standard of coaching
  3. Grow a broad and diverse base of talent

GB Academy Programme

In April 2023 UKS awarded BWL with funding to establish a programme to support the development of athletes with the potential to win medals at Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Olympic games. The programme will provide selected athletes with access to support services, training camps and access to train at the BWL performance centres. The programme will contain 2 squads:

  • ‘B Squad’ – is funded by UK sport. Up to 4 Athletes can be selected at this level, these athletes will receive an APA of up to £5000 and access to the Athlete Medical Scheme.

THE POLICY FOR THE B SQUAD CAN BE FOUND HERE

  • ‘C Squad’ – is funded by a combination of UK Sport, BWL and the Home nations. Up to 8 athletes can be selected at this level, these athletes will be nominated for a TASS scholarship including Athlete Medical Insurance.

THE POLICY FOR THE C SQUAD CAN BE FOUND HERE

Athletes who have achieved the minimum standards outlined in the policies above are advised to submit a declaration of interest for this programme no later than 23:59 on 30th April 2023 by completing the form in the link here.
