Safeguarding Adults Week 2025
The 17-21 November 2025 is Safeguarding Adults Week. British Weight Lifting (BWL) is committed to providing safe, inclusive environments for participants, coaches, members and fans of the sports of Weightlifting and Para Powerlifting.

The theme of Safeguarding Adults Week 2025 is Prevention: act before abuse. Safeguarding is often thought of in terms of responding to incidents, but the most effective approach is to prevent abuse from occurring in the first place than it is to respond to incidents of harm, neglect and isolation.
We need the courage and confidence to act on our instincts, and to speak up when something feels wrong
Safe environments are created from culture: positive culture where values are shared, leaders model behaviour, and everyone feels empowered to speak up and raise concerns if they feel that something isn’t right - even for something subtle.
By committing to prevention, we make the sports of Weightlifting and Para Powerlifting safer for all. Let’s make November 17–21 a catalyst for stronger safeguarding cultures across British Weight Lifting.
