To support delivery, we have launched a new publication, Advice for Clubs – School Holiday Activities, alongside a grant programme offering £500 to affiliated clubs.
Developed in partnership with Adam Brigham, Head Coach at Staffs Lifting Club CIC, the guide draws on more than six years of experience delivering successful holiday activities for children and families in the local community.
Whether you're planning your first holiday club or looking to grow an existing programme, the resource provides practical advice, templates and activity ideas to help you get started.
Why run a holiday club?
School holiday activities can help clubs:
- Welcome new young people and families into your club
- Build relationships with future members
- Support your local community during school holidays
- Create additional coaching and income opportunities
- Help young people develop confidence, movement skills and positive experiences through lifting
The guide highlights the importance of creating sessions that are fun, engaging and welcoming, helping young people discover the benefits of lifting while building confidence and making new connections.

Join our online club Q&A
To help clubs learn more about delivering school holiday activities, BWL will host an online Q&A with Staffs Lifting Club on Wednesday 17 June, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.
The session is open to all affiliated clubs and no previous experience of running holiday activities is required.
Once registered, you'll automatically receive a Teams link to join the session.
Apply for £500 holiday club funding
To support delivery, grants of £500 are available to affiliated clubs.
The funding is designed to help clubs run school holiday activities during summer and half-term breaks, with a focus on engaging young people who are new to lifting.
