IWF Grand Prix I team announcement 2023

British Weight Lifting (BWL) is pleased to announce a team of five athletes who will represent Great Britain at the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Grand Prix I in Habana, Cuba between 8-18 June 2023.

The team selected is as follows:

• W49 – Fraer Morrow
• W59 – Laura Wheatcroft
• W71 – Erin Barton
• W81 – Katrina Feklistova
• W87+ - Mercy Opeyemi Brown

The team will be supported by coaches Stuart Martin and Dave Sawyer.

BWL Head of Weightlifting Performance Stuart Martin commented “The Grand Prix I is a key Olympic qualification event and we are delighted to send a small but strong team to Cuba to continue their qualification journey. A number of regular GB athletes have already competed twice during the qualification period and opted not to travel to Habana for this event.

“Athletes will be looking to increase their rankings ahead of the World Championships in September, which is a mandatory competition for all athletes who wish to maintain their eligibility for Paris 2024.

We wish all athletes and coaches the best of luck with their final preparation for the event”
