Funded Coaching Scholarship Scheme

We’re providing additional support for coaches who qualify to access funded training provision worth up to £940.

Funded Coaching Scholarship Scheme

British Weight Lifting is delighted to announce a new round of funding for its coaching scholarship scheme to encourage more people to become qualified, start a club, or progress as coach. The scholarship scheme was first launched in 2020 and has been updated to support more people who may be facing barriers to getting involved.

We are offering a limited number of free places on our Coaching Olympic Weightlifting courses. The initiative is part of our strategy to attract and retain talented people, tackle inequalities and support the community of coaches.

Speaking on the launch of the scheme, Matthew Curtain, CEO said “we’re committed to helping to remove barriers and giving more people involved in weightlifting the opportunity and encouragement to develop as coaches”.

Application

The application window for funded places will be open until 17 September 2023.

How do I apply for a coaching scholarship?

To apply for a coaching scholarship, you’ll be required to complete an application form to assess your eligibility. The application process should take around 10 minutes to complete.

We expect to receive more applications for this opportunity than places available. Unfortunately, this will mean that we cannot award funded coaching scholarships to everyone that applies and meets the criteria. The final decision will be made by British Weight Lifting.
