FREE weightlifting course for schools and community organisations: Raise the Bar 2023
Schools and community organisations in England and Scotland can take advantage of British Weight Lifting’s Raise the Bar programme for a FREE 6-week course.
Well established research shows that muscle strengthening exercise is associated with:
- Reduced all cause mortality

- Reduced symptoms of depression and anxiety
The UK’s Physical Activity Guidelines recommend that:
- ‘Children do activities that develop movement skills and strengthens muscles and bones’
- ‘Adults and older adults build strength on at least 2 times a week’
Raise the Bar is helping to change this by equipping young people with the knowledge and skills to develop their strength and make healthy decisions and is also preparing young people to be strong in adulthood.
