European Youth and Under 15 Championship 2023 Team Selection

From the 1st to the 10th of July the GB team will be competing at the European Youth and Under 15s in Chisinau, Moldova.

The under 15’s will be represented by Asees Dhanda from Brunel Weightlifting (W49kg) and Martha Bailey from Pride Performance (W71kg) who have both improved on their totals from last year and will be looking to improve on their performances from last year where Asees claimed the bronze medal in the snatch.

The female Under 17’s will be represented by Maddie Rosher from Tyneside Barbell (W71kg), taking her first steps onto the international platform with a great year of progress behind her.

The male team is made up by two lifters from Maidstone Weightlifting, Silver Ee (M67kg) and Edward Skinner (M67kg). Silver has made good progress over the year and will be looking to improve on last year’s performance. It will be Edward’s first international experience along with the final member of the team Rhys Deeley from Kilmarnock (KAWLC) (M73kg) who has also made strong progress leading up to the qualification period and will be his first step with the GB singlet.

The support staff will be led by team manager Kristian McPhee, “the performance team have been very impressed with the growth and progress of youth weightlifting in the past year and this team selection is a great sample of the future of British Weightlifting with several returning athletes and medalists who were some of the youngest in their group are now able to build on last year performances. It is a great opportunity for the athletes to step onto the international platform for the first time to gain that essential experience.”

Head coach will be national youth coach Rhod Thomas, supported by coach Julie Morrish with Sheli McCoy chaperoning.
