Double Medals for Weightlifting on Day 3 of Glasgow 2026
Day three of weightlifting at the 2026 Commonwealth Games saw another exciting day of competition in Glasgow, with Sarah Davies Smale and Angus Doig both securing medals for their home nations.

Men’s 88kg
The first session of the day featured Angus Doig (Scotland) and Christopher Russ (England).
- Christopher finished 4th with a 308kg total, made up of a 139kg snatch and 169kg clean and jerk.
- Angus brought home bronze with a 309kg total, comprised of a 135kg snatch and 174kg clean and jerk.
Women’s 63kg
The second session included Beth Ashbee (Scotland), Charlotte Whalley (Wales), Hannah Crymble (Northern Ireland) and Sarah Davies Smale (England).
- Hannah did not register a successful snatch after three attempts at 84kg.
- Beth finished 9th with a 85kg snatch, 105kg clean and jerk and a 190kg total.
- Charlotte placed 8th with a 82kg snatch, 104kg clean and jerk and a 186kg total.
- Sarah secured silver with a 95kg snatch, 122kg clean and jerk and a 217kg total.
Women’s 69kg
The final session of the day saw Chloe Hood (Wales), Erin Barton (England), Holly O’Shea (Gibraltar) and Madeline Rosher (Scotland) take to the platform.
- Holly finished 10th with a 80kg snatch, 100kg clean and jerk and a 180kg total.
- Chloe placed 9th after a 85kg snatch, 105kg clean and jerk and a 190kg total.
- Madeline secured 6th place with a 97kg snatch, 117kg clean and jerk and a 214kg total.
- Erin finished 5th with a 91kg snatch, 119kg clean and jerk and a 210kg total.
