Clubs: Applications OPEN for Talent Academies

British Weight Lifting (BWL) are pleased to announce that BWL affiliated clubs can apply to become a Talent Academy for the 2025-2026 cohort.

Applications to attain Talent Academy status are now open and will remain so until 1 December 2025.

You will receive an email outlining the application process and providing details on where to submit any supporting evidence and documentation.

We strongly encourage affiliated clubs based in the East Midlands and the North West of England to apply. Clubs with established working relationships with local schools are also particularly encouraged to submit an application.

Whilst all applications will be considered carefully, only a limited number of affiliated clubs can be awarded Talent Academy status. From December 2025, following the close of the application period, a British Weight Lifting Performance Panel will review all submissions. Selected clubs will then be contacted in 2026 to sign the Talent Academy agreement. Newly designated Talent Academies will be announced in late February 2026, with Talent Academy activity commencing in April 2026 to coincide with the start of the new financial year.
