BWL welcomes Hungarian Weightlifting Federation to London
British Weight Lifting (BWL) welcomed representatives from the Hungarian Weightlifting Federation to London for three days of strategic planning and coach education.

The Hungarian delegation included Vice-President Attila Adamfi, General Secretary Akos Nagy, International Education Manager Robert Balazs and National Coach Gergely Palinkas. They joined BWL CEO Matthew Curtain, Chief Operating Officer Kath Leonard, Education Operations Manager Ashleigh Smeaton, PA to the CEO Tara Drake and former BWL Pathway Coach and Coach Educator Kristian McPhee for an opening workshop at UK Sport.
The first day focused on discussions between the two federations, sharing experiences and approaches to organisational development, coach education and growing the sport, as well as preparations for delivering BWL qualifications in Hungary.
The Hungarian delegation then completed BWL’s combined Level 1 and Level 2 coaching programme at London Strength, led by Kristian McPhee.
Following their training and assessment, the participants will become coach educators and deliver the programme in Hungary, supported by BWL.
The Hungarian Weightlifting Federation will become BWL’s first international Licensed Delivery Partner, an important step in making BWL’s coach education programmes available internationally.
