Fraer Morrow's Valiant Effort Despite Challenges

Fraer Morrow, competing in the women's 49kg category, demonstrated incredible fortitude in the face of adversity. Battling a recurring back issue and tonsillitis in the lead-up to the competition, Morrow's participation was a testament to her resilience. National Coach Dave Sawyer remarked, "Just getting on the platform was a result for Fraer." She achieved a total lift of 164kg, securing 15th place with successful lifts in the snatch at 72kg and 74kg, and 90kg in the clean and jerk. Morrow's focus now shifts to her rehabilitation, aiming to return to top form for the upcoming year.

Sarah Davies' Comeback Performance

In the women's 71kg category, Sarah Davies delivered a commendable performance, bouncing back from her experience at the World Championship. Achieving a total of 229kg with four successful lifts out of six attempts, Davies clinched 13th place. Her successful lifts included 95kg and 99kg in the snatch, and 125kg and 130kg in the clean and jerk. Coach Sawyer expressed optimism about her future, stating, "This will give her confidence going into the next Olympic qualification event at the European Championships in February 2024."

As we applaud their efforts and look forward to their future endeavours, we extend our deepest gratitude to our sponsors and partners including UK Sport and Sport England Their support plays a crucial role in our athletes' ability to compete on the world stage and bring pride to BWL.
