BWL partners with Jamaica on coach education

British Weight Lifting (BWL) is expanding its international coach education network through a new partnership with the National Weightlifting Association of Jamaica.

Through the Licensed Delivery Partner agreement, BWL coach education programmes will be delivered in Jamaica, giving coaches greater access to structured learning and development opportunities within their own country.

The partnership will support the development of Jamaica’s domestic coaching workforce, while providing access to BWL’s education resources, technical expertise and established coach development pathway. BWL will also provide administrative and promotional support to help establish and grow delivery locally.

BWL CEO Matthew Curtain said: ‘we are delighted to be working with the National Weightlifting Association of Jamaica through our Licensed Delivery Partner programme. The focus is on building long-term coaching capability within Jamaican weightlifting and making high-quality education more accessible to coaches working directly with athletes and clubs.’

Omarie Mears, President of the National Weightlifting Association of Jamaica, said: ‘this partnership represents an important step forward for coach education in Jamaica. Access to an established development pathway will help us strengthen the knowledge and skills of our coaches and build greater capacity across Jamaican weightlifting.’.

The agreement forms part of BWL’s wider international education programme, supporting national federations to strengthen coaching systems, share expertise and expand access to high-quality coach education.
