BWL OFFICIALS ELECTED TO IWF BODIES

British Weight Lifting (BWL) is delighted to advise CEO Matthew Curtain has been elected as an Executive Board Member of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) and Heather Allison has been elected to the IWF Technical Committee. In doing so, she becomes the first British woman to be voted on to an IWF elected body.

The IWF Special and Electoral Congress was held in Tirana, Albania from 25 - 26 June 2022 and of particular note, Mohammed Jalood (IRQ) was elected President and Antonio Urso (ITA) General Secretary.

Matthew Curtain, BWL CEO said “With a 66% change in the Executive Board, I am confident we will refresh and rebrand our beloved sport – as a team – for the benefit of clean athletes worldwide.”

BWL also extends its congratulations to former IWF Interim President Dr Michael Irani, who was made Honorary President during the Congress.
