BWL Foundation Appoints Two New Trustees

The BWL Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of Amy Gardner and Claire Edwards as new Trustees of the Foundation.

The appointments follow an open recruitment process and reflect the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to independence, while also broadening its experience across governance, participation, community engagement and fundraising.

Amy Gardner currently serves as Director of Sport and Participation at British Cycling and is also a former Non-Executive Director of England Touch Rugby. She brings extensive senior leadership experience across governance, participation development, strategic planning and stakeholder engagement, having worked across a number of senior roles within the sport sector.

Claire Edwards currently works within Sport England as Head of Campaign Activation within the This Girl Can campaign team. She brings strong experience across inclusion, community engagement and governance, together with significant experience in campaigns and initiatives focussed on increasing participation and widening access to physical activity.

The BWL Foundation has continued to grow over recent years, and these appointments will further strengthen the work we are doing to widen access, support communities and create positive opportunities through strength sport.’

Established in 2020, the BWL Foundation supports initiatives focussed on inclusion, participation, health and community impact through weightlifting and strength-based physical activity.
