Applications now open for Talent Identification & Talent Transfer

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from:

Athletes already lifting who are progressing quickly and showing strong potential.
Athletes from other sports - including gymnastics, athletics, rugby, rowing, judo, CrossFit and more - who have the physical qualities and mindset needed to excel in weightlifting.
CrossFit athletes who perform the lifts well but haven’t yet trained or competed specifically in weightlifting.

You don’t need years of experience. You need ability, commitment and the drive to develop.

Why Apply?

Athletes selected for the programme gain access to:

Training camps with peers at a similar stage
Guidance from a Performance Manager
Coach development support
Injury risk profiling and barbell analysis - services normally reserved for GB athletes
Competition experience in a high-performance environment

Our goal is simple: to help you reach the standards required for the GB AgeGroup Programme within 12–18 months, with many athletes progressing further within two years.

Eligibility criteria:

Men aged 15–18 (as of 31 December)
Women aged 15–20 (as of 31 December)
Applicants must be able to back squat their bodyweight i.e. 50kg bodyweight = 50kg back squat

Key Dates for Applicants

Applications close: 1 August
Testing Day: 6 September, Nottingham

The testing day is compulsory for all shortlisted applicants. You’ll complete a series of physical and technical assessments, including the Snatch, Clean & Jerk, midthigh pull, countermovement jump and back squat. This helps us understand your current ability and future potential.
