2026 IWF Athletes Commission Election – Expressions of Interest

British Weight Lifting (BWL) invites expressions of interest from eligible members wishing to be nominated for election to the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Athletes Commission.

The election will take place during the 2026 IWF World Championships in Ningbo, China.

Eligible BWL members who demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and ethical conduct, and who believe they have the experience and commitment to represent BWL and athletes internationally, are encouraged to apply.

How to Apply
To be considered for nomination, applicants must submit a brief covering letter outlining:
-    their relevant experience;
-    why they wish to serve on the IWF Athletes Commission; and
-    why they believe they are a suitable candidate to represent BWL at international level.
-    Completed IWF candidature documentation
o    Candidature Form
o    Consent and Waiver
o    Declaration Form
-    Any supporting verification documentation required by the IWF.

Deadline
Expressions of interest must be received by 1700hrs on Friday 17 July 2026.  Applications should be submitted by email to tara.drake@britishweightlifting.org

Selection Process
Following the closing date, BWL will appoint a Nominations Panel, including three BWL Board members to assess all expressions of interest and those eligible candidates who have submitted successful expressions of interest will be notified prior to any submission to the IWF ahead of their deadline

Applicants will be informed of the outcome in advance of the IWF nomination deadline of 28 July 2026.
