10 Welsh athletes selected for Commonwealth Championships

Weightlifting Wales has announced a team of 10 athletes for the Commonwealth Championships, which will be held in Ahmedabad City, India from 24 to 30 August 2025.

The team selected to represent Wales at the event are:

Nikole Roberts – Women’s 48kg

Madaline Connely – Women’s 53kg

Catrin Hâf Jones – Women’s 58kg

Catrin Jones – Women’s 58kg

Charlotte Whalley – Women’s 63kg

Chloe Hood – Women’s 69kg

Nicola Stiddard – Women’s 77kg

Michael Farmer – Men’s 71kg

Alex Mosely – Men’s 88kg

James Wales – Men’s 110kg

Gareth Evans, Head Coach of Weightlifting Wales, commented “Weightlifting Wales are looking forward to starting the Commonwealth Games qualification out in India next week at the Commonwealth Championships.”

“Performances from the team have been very encouraging coming into the qualification period which is very positive from a Weightlifting Wales perspective. We have a mix of experienced and new international lifters in the squad, and we are looking forward to watching them perform well on the platform and putting down some solid qualification markers for next year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow”
