British Weight Lifting Training Camp

  • Certification: Level 2 Award in Olympic Weight Lifting
  • Length of Course: 1 day practical session (8 hours) / 4 hours e-learning

The Training Camp

This training camp is ideal for gym enthusiasts, PT’s or aspiring athletes who are looking to develop their understanding around optimal Olympic Weightlifting technique.

You will be given exclusive access to the BWL e-learning platform before you attend the training camp. This will give you access to:

  • The BWL technical model for the Snatch and the Clean and Jerk
  • Access to BWL warm up and cool down routines

The training camp will include:

  • A presentation from the BWL Performance Team with exclusive insight to the BWL Pillars of Performance
  • A technical session on the Snatch
  • A training Session and Q&A with a GB International athlete
  • A technical session on the Clean & Jerk

You will learn the key positions for each of the Olympic lifts and learn how to capture your very own technical series that you will get to take away with you. The technical series will help inform what you will need to work on to improve your lifts. Individualised technical feedback will also be given to you by the BWL Performance team.

Course Pre-requisite

  • Entry level course
  • Be at least 14 years of age on the first day of the course
  • Have some general experience of lifts and weight training

What will I be qualified to do? 

Successful passing of the award section of the training camp will mean you hold a qualification proving your ability to hit the key positions in the Olympic lifts.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to identify the key positions in both the Snatch and Clean & Jerk for your own lifting.

Olympic Weight Lifting 

  • Certification: Level 2 Award in Olympic Weight Lifting
  • Length of course: 2 – 4 hours E-learning / 4 hours practical session

This course is perfect for those of you who are new to the sport and are looking to further your understanding of Olympic Weightlifting techniques and achieve an industry-recognised qualification. This is typically the first step to graduate through the BWL education pathway and is open to people aged 14 years old and above.

The Course 

Warm up and cool down – the need for a warm up and cool down; how to plan for a warm up and cool down and examples of a warm up and cool down. 

The Snatch - a highly technical lift that is completed in one smooth movement. The Snatch is usually the first competed lift at any competition and entails a lot of different skills to complete correctly and safely. You will learn the key positions for the BWL technical model of delivery for the Snatch and how the lift is performed.

The Clean and Jerk - usually the second competed lift at any competition and the lift that entails a lot of different skills to complete correctly and safely. The lift has been broken down into the Clean and the Jerk as separate exercises to teach the technical models. You will learn the key positions for the BWL technical model of delivery for the Clean; the key positions for the BWL technical model of delivery for the Jerk and how the lift is performed.

Health & Safety - equipment and facilities have to be one of the key focuses of your training session in weight lifting. They are key to being able to complete your session, and ensuring that they are safe and appropriate is essential before training.

This workshop is perfect for those of you who are new to the sport or those who are looking to further your understanding of Olympic Weightlifting techniques.

This workshop is perfect for those of you who are wanting to learn more about effective bench press technique.

The Course 

The bench press is a highly technical lift that should be completed in one smooth movement.

  • The key positions for the bench press
  • How the lift is performed
  • Common faults and how to avoid them

The e-learning is optional to provide you with some pre-learning relating to the lift. You are required to attend the practical section where you will work with one of our experienced and qualified tutors, to cover the exercise in practice.

Course Prerequisites 

  • Entry level workshop
  • Be at least 16 years of age on the first day of the course
  • Have some general experience of the Bench Press

What Will I Be Qualified To Do?

This course will provide you with the key information to take away to use in training.
