Team Selection for Cairo 2025 Elite World Championships

British Weight Lifting (BWL) has confirmed the athletes who will represent Great Britain at the Cairo 2025 Elite World Championships, set to take place in Cairo, Egypt from 11–18 October 2025.

The Para Powerlifting World Championships will serve as a key stepping stone towards the Commonwealth Games, with BWL and the home nations working together to create a funding pathway that supports athletes capable of securing qualification spots.

While all selected athletes will compete under the GBR flag, the selection reflects a collaborative effort across the British Isles, with home nation programmes backing additional athletes to bolster Commonwealth Games prospects:

Tom Whittaker, Performance Director (Para Powerlifting) commented “We are pleased to have a large team this year for the World Championships and look forward to each athlete’s performance. We are hoping this combined selection will ensure the strongest possible British representation in Cairo, maximising both medal opportunities and qualification chances ahead of the next Commonwealth Games.”
