Strong performances at Para Powerlifting Home Nations Open in Bangor

The Para Powerlifting community came together in Bangor, Wales, for the 2026 Para Powerlifting Home Nations Open, with athletes delivering a series of impressive performances across the women’s and men’s categories.

Standout performances
In the Women’s Lightweight (61kg) category, Olivia Broome recorded a best lift of 120kg. Lottie McGuiness achieved 112kg, while Hannah Harvey recorded 72kg.

The Men’s Lightweight (72kg) category saw Finlay Davidson record a lift of 164kg. Joshua Grist achieved 156kg, followed by Ethan Backhurst with 112kg.

In the Women’s Heavyweight (61kg) class, Louise Sugden recorded a best lift of 126kg. Doaa Shayea achieved 109kg, while Evelyn Thomas recorded 90kg.

The Men’s Heavyweight (72kg) category produced the biggest best lift of the event, with Mark Swan recording an impressive 205kg. Oscar Moussima achieved 160kg, while John Reginald Certeza recorded 131kg.

Home Nations Grand Prix
The event also formed part of the Home Nations Grand Prix, with athletes competing for honours across the different categories.

Hannah Harvey took the Women’s Lightweight Grand Prix title, while Archie Macey claimed first place in the Men’s Lightweight Grand Prix.

In the Men’s Heavyweight, Oscar Moussima took the top spot, finishing ahead of John Reginald Certeza.

The Home Nations Open provided another valuable opportunity for athletes to compete, test themselves and continue their development on the platform.
