Sheona Southern appointed as Independent Non-Executive Director

British Weight Lifting (BWL) is delighted to announce the appointment of a new Independent Non-Executive Board Member who will take up her position with immediate effect. Sheona Southern, Managing Director of Marketing Manchester will join the British Weight Lifting board.

Sheona Southern is a skilled senior leader with board experience in both commercial and not-for-profit sectors. Sheona comes with over twenty five years experience including driving organisation and transformational change, business growth and strategic marketing.

As Managing Director of Marketing Manchester, she is responsible for promoting Greater Manchester nationally and internationally targeting major sporting events and conferences, investors, businesses, visitors and students.

Commenting on her recent appointment, Sheona said: “As someone that has had a passion for sport and has worked in and within the sector throughout their career – including most recently at Marketing Manchester where we bid for and support the delivery of world-class sporting events across Greater Manchester – I am delighted to be joining the board at British Weight Lifting. I am looking forward to sharing my experience and working with other board members to further the success of the sport.”
