Rest in Peace Francis Cowen

It is with deep sadness that we hear of the passing of Francis Cowen, who was a regular para powerlifter competing in BWL competitions.

Francis discovered para powerlifting through his engagement with the Dwarf Sports Association (DSAuk) and talented athlete recruitment initiatives ahead of the Tokyo Paralympics.

His passion for powerlifting led him to become a member of the British Weight Lifting pathway, where he quickly established himself in training and competition. His dedication, hard work, and determination shone through his performances, like in the 2017 para powerlifting open where he hit a personal best lift of 102kg.

Francis will be deeply missed by his family, friends, teammates, and the entire  para powerlifting community. His presence as a passionate and kind-hearted human being will live on, inspiring others to lift for the love of sport. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to his family.
