Tom Chapman is the founder of The Lions Barber Collective. After losing a friend to suicide, Tom realised that from inside the safe environment of his salon/barbershop, there was an opportunity to not only look after what was on his customer’s heads but also what’s inside their heads too. It started as a group of Barbers, that educate and raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention. This life-saving collective has grown and impacted a huge global network. Tom has now developed HereToTalk to train professionals from all industries with the skills to recognise, ask, listen and help those in need with their mental health and suicide prevention.

What you will learn

Introducing the HereToTalk training program – a comprehensive and life-saving initiative that equips individuals with the skills to have safe conversations and make a positive impact on those around them, regardless of their background, industry, or location.

This training provides essential knowledge on how to recognise when someone is struggling, the confidence to ask the right questions, how to listen empathetically without judgment, and ultimately, how to connect that person with the help they need while ensuring the safety of both parties. While also creating a plan to maintain our own wellbeing.

This training has proven to be effective in saving lives in any environment. The skills learned through HereToTalk make a difference and are ideally suited to professionals in the fitness industry.

Join this training to create a world where safe and compassionate conversations are the norm, and where individuals have the tools to support those in need. Together, we can make a difference and save lives through the power of communication.

Testimonials

“I liked it, thought it was helpful in regards to how to respond such as..

Rather than saying “I understand” say “can you help me understand” as you don’t understand as every situation is different and by saying “can you help me understand” acknowledges the fact you’re trying to understand their situation and help them open up to you

I fortunately haven’t had to deal with any of these situations since, but feel more confident if I had to

I would recommend it as you will likely come across people struggling at some point”

“Yes it was a worthwhile workshop with great content and delivery.

I benefited from learning different perspectives and invaluable tools on a subject that I feel sometimes is a bit over done and repetitive.

I use some of the tools most days in building conversations which I feel will be really helpful to a person in need as and when they find themselves talking to me.

Yes I would recommend the training and Tom Chapman.”

“Yeah I absolutely loved it. I feel like it’s something that is needed within being a personal trainer as most of the time we are more of a therapist rather than a pt. It’s help with understanding the best way to ask questions around the topic and also how to find out the reasons for it rather than the blame.

I would definitely recommend anyone taking part and doing it as it’s a good way of making you view things from a different angle and also understanding that mental health affects everyone at different levels and some need more help than others”
