Refer athletes for Talent Identification!
Weightlifting clubs across the UK are encouraged to nominate athletes for the upcoming Talent Identification (TiD) and Talent Transfer (TT) Training & Testing Day, taking place in Nottingham on Sunday, 3 August 2025.

This essential event is designed to identify lifters with the potential to develop into international-level athletes, whether they are newer lifters showing rapid progress, or athletes transitioning into weightlifting from other sports.
This Testing Day provides a vital pathway into the national development system, giving your athletes access to expert support, high-level analysis, and the chance to work towards GB Age-Group selection.
It is compulsory for any athlete wishing to join or remain on the TiD/TT programme, so clubs currently supporting athletes on this route should ensure their attendance.
What Will the Day Involve?
Depending on experience, athletes will take part in:
- A heavy training session (for experienced lifters), including:
- Snatch and Clean & Jerk above 90%
- 3–5 rep max Back Squats
OR an introductory weightlifting session (for newer athletes)
- Mid-Thigh Isometric Pull Testing
- Countermovement Jump (CMJ) Testing
Who Should You Put Forward?
Talent Transfer Athletes:
Athletes with less than a year of dedicated weightlifting training
Former athletes from other sports with strong physical attributes
CrossFit athletes proficient in the Olympic lifts, but without weightlifting competition experience
Talent ID Athletes:
New lifters progressing rapidly and showing strong potential
Individuals with clear physical capabilities and commitment to development
