British Weight Lifting’s partner, Pulseroll, launched a new sponsorship program to celebrate International Women’s Day.

International Women’s Day is a day intended to celebrate women’s achievements, to increase visibility and call out inequality. To celebrate, Pulseroll have pulled out all the stops and are providing one year of sponsorship for a female athlete.

Women in sport can often struggle to get sponsorships and we’re aware that this is a barrier to participation and competition in weightlifting. Pulseroll are a company who embrace equality and inclusivity and want to continue to empower women in their chosen sports to drive for greater female recognition. 

That’s why for 2021 they have opened up a sponsorship worth £2,000 for a female athlete on her journey in sport. Please be aware that the application is open to any sport, not just weightlifting.

Over the years, opportunities for Women in sport have seen dramatic improvements but there is still a long way to go

For example there has been a considerable increase in the amount of female athletes competing in the Olympics Games. At Barcelona in 1992 there were only 2,704 female athletes competing.
