Louise Sugden breaks Para-Powerlifting British Record To Grab Share Of Sportscover Pot
On the back of her outstanding performance at last week’s British Championships, we are delighted to announce Louise Sugden will also receive a share of the Sportscover £500 prize fund, alongside fellow Internationals Mercy Brown and Emily Campbell.
Louise, a recent Commonwealth Games Para-Powerlifting silver medallist, continued her impressive form smashing the existing record in the women’s -86kg class. Louise secured Gold with three successful lifts and registered a new record of 109kg with her final lift of the competition.
The £500 prize fund was offered by leading Sports and Leisure insurance provider, Sportscover for any lifter who broke a British record at the Ricoh Arena event.
Mercy Brown was the first to register a new record in the Women’s 90kg category with a snatch of 97kg, a Clean & Jerk of 124kg therefore registering a total of 221kg.
Emily Campbell followed soon after lifting a new record of 107kg in the snatch to replace previous holder Mercy Brown in the Women’s 90+ category.
