Lockdown Lift Off 2.0 continues with the Clean & Jerk!

The reboot of Lockdown Lift Off is open to members of British Weight Lifting and free to enter.

Entries for the Clean & Jerk lift will run from 12 noon Wednesday 25 November – 12 noon Wednesday 02 December.

This will be followed by another 7-day stretch for the Snatch and Clean & Jerk from 2 - 9 December, to complete the trio of stages.  The competition began with the Snatch lift between 18 - 25 November.

Here’s a reminder of what you need to take part, and how to enter…

What is it?

Lockdown Lift Off is a free-to-enter video-based competition for BWL members with lifters uploading a video of themselves completing a designated exercise to the Lockdown Lift Off webpage.  You can enter any round of the competition, you don’t need to enter them all, simply pick and choose which rounds you want to do.

The videos will then be judged by a BWL Licensed Technical Official and given a rating out of 5 stars based on the technique displayed.  The Technical Official may also leave a comment to help with any areas of improvement.

Every video will be put into an online gallery of submissions for everyone to watch.  You can share your submission on social media using the hashtag #LockdownLiftOff and tagging @BritishWL in your post.

At the end of each Round all entries will be ranked by the highest weight lifted that the Technical Officials consider to be a ‘Good Lift’ and the Top 3 results in each category will be sent an e-certificate.

The club with best lifters in Lockdown Lift Off will also be recognised!

What kit do I need to take part?

  • A valid BWL membership
  • A video camera with a time stamp
  • If using a smartphone we recommend the Timestamp Camera Basic app, or something similar
  • A barbell
  • Weights
  • Somewhere safe to lift

The Lift – Clean & Jerk

Lifters must submit one video with a visible clock or timer that has been continuous since weigh in. Your video may contain up to three attempts of the clean & jerk lift, your highest successful attempt will count towards your result.

Videos must show the lifters full body at all times from the start to the end of the lift, including full overhead lockout.

Camera must be placed directly in front of the lifter and raised to approximately chest height. Videos filmed from the ground or from the side will not be accepted.

If you have a lock out issue before starting the lift show the judges your full extension, pause, then lift.

Weights will only be accepted in kilograms.

You must show all the discs on both ends of the bar after each attempt.

  • Pulling straps are not allowed.
  • Submissions that do not include a weigh in will be rejected.
  • In the case of a tie the athlete that posted their video submission first will be awarded.
  • Videos that do not display the weights before or after the lifts will be rejected.
  • The results in the Lockdown Lift Off are not eligible for rankings or records.
  • Lifts that would be considered a ‘No Lift’ in a formal competition will still be given a star rating and feedback but won’t be included in the final rankings.
