Jo Calvino and Cyrille Tchatchet II Appointed to IWF Committees

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Executive Board has announced the appointment of two British figures to key IWF committees.

Weightlifting Wales Chair Jo Calvino has been appointed to the IWF Coaching and Research Committee, while Olympian and WADA Athlete Council Member Cyrille Tchatchet II joins the IWF Medical Committee.

These appointments come shortly after the re-election of BWL CEO Matthew Curtain to the IWF Executive Board during the IWF Congress held in Riyadh on 24 May 2025. 

‘This is a significant milestone for BWL and a recognition of the expertise we bring to the international stage,’ said BWL CEO Matthew Curtain. ‘Jo and Cyrille are not only outstanding professionals but also passionate advocates for athlete development, safety, and education. Their contributions will be invaluable.’

Jo Calvino, a former elite lifter and experienced coach, brings deep technical insight and grassroots knowledge to the Coaching and Research Committee while Cyrille Tchatchet II, who represented the Refugee Olympic Team at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is renowned for his work in mental health and athlete well-being, making him a strong asset to the Medical Committee.
