IWF World Youth Championships 2019 Round Up
Five athletes represented Great Britain this week at the IWF World Youth Championships in Las Vegas.
Myren Madden claimed 9th place in the M89 division. He went three from three on the snatches en route to producing an effort of 110kg.
In the Clean and Jerk Madden followed up on his strong start with 136kg to round off on a total of 246kg. Drew Burn’s also secured 9th place in his category. The Scottish lifter snatched 103kg in the M73 group and then clean and jerked 124kg for a final score of 227kg. Jacob Finnigan put in a strong performance to finish 10th, just 2 kg shy of Burn’s total.
There was a close contest in the W49 class as only one-kilogram separated Taliyah Homewood and Mia Keegan. Both managed to clean and jerk 64kg, but Homewood edged ahead with a snatch of 57kg. They finished 13th and 14th respectively.
