IWF World Championships 2019 Team Announced

British Weight Lifting are delighted to announce the squad selected to represent Great Britain at the IWF World Youth Championships held in Las Vegas next month.

The competition will take place between 8-15^th March at the WestGate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.

The full squad is as follows:

Taliyah Homewood Women’s 49kg category (Europa Gym – Dartford)

Mia Keegan Women’s 49kg category (Elite Performance Labs – Tunbridge Wells)

Jacob Finnegan Men’s 73kg category (Essex Weightlifting – Colchester)

Drew Burns Men’s 73kg category (Gladiator – Glasgow)

Myren Madden Men’s 89kg category (Bullpen Fitness - Worcester)

Rhodri Thomas will travel with the team as National Youth Coach and Julie Morrish of Oxford Power Sports has been selected as Team Manager.

British Weight Lifting Performance Pathway Manager Stuart Martin commented,

 “The team is one of the biggest we have sent to the World Youths over the last couple of years. All athletes have shown great progress over the last 12 months and inspire a real sense of optimism for the next generation of lifters coming through. With a number of other youth athletes on the fringes we are expecting to see more athletes coming through over the next few years and a large European Youth Championships team in September. As a consequence of the directed effort of young athlete’s, their clubs and coaches as well as the infrastructure of support we are looking to grow around young athletes in the pathway”
