Great Britain Enjoy Success At The European Para Powerlifting Championships
Great Britain have enjoyed a successful weekend at The Para Powerlifting European Open Championships currently been held in Berck –sur Mer, France.
Day 1 of the competition saw Zoe Newson secure two Gold medals with a lift of 91kg and 16 year old Oliver Broome also secured two Gold medals in the Women’s 50kg whilst achieving a personal best of 80kg.
Two sets of medals are awarded in each event at the Championships. The top three powerlifters overall receive gold, silver and bronze. As well as that, the top three European powerlifters also win medals for being the best in their continent.
Ali Jawad won Gold in the Men’s 54kg class registering a PB of 165kg, and Adam Alderman secured Bronze with a PB of 149kg.
Micky Yule won a second European title, lifting 177kg in the Men’s up to 72kg, Nathaniel Wilding secured Silver lifting 165kg and Ollie Brown won Bronze with a PB of 160kg.
Today has seen Louise Sugden secure Gold with a lift of 108kg in the -86kg category and her lift was also enough to claim a bronze medal in the open event.
