British Weight Lifting (BWL) is excited to learn of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games medal event programme as announced by the Glasgow 2026 Organising Company.

The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games will take place on Thursday 23 July to Sunday 2 August 2026 and will feature a 10-sport programme (including six para disciplines) concentrated across four venues within an eight-mile corridor of the city, with over 200 gold medals up for grabs across the 10 days of sporting competition.

Of part of the medal event programme, sixteen (16) medal events will be held for Weightlifting and four (4) for Para Powerlifting.

Weightlifting bodyweight categories are as follows:

Women: 48kg, 53kg, 58kg, 63kg, 69kg, 77kg, 86kg, +86kg

Men: 60kg, 65kg, 71kg, 79kg, 88kg, 98kg, 110kg, +110 kg

Para Powerlifting bodyweight categories are as follows:

Women: Lightweight (Up to and including 61kg), Heavyweight (Over 61kg)

Men: Lightweight (Up to and including 72kg), Heavyweight (Over 72kg)

The full medal event programme is available by clicking here while the Glasgow 2026 Athlete Allocation Systems for weightlifting and para powerlifting are expected to be released shortly by the Commonwealth Games Federation.
