Could you represent Great Britain at a Paralympic Games?

British Weight Lifting is excited to launch a Talent Identification (ID) campaign focused on discovering the next generation of Para Powerlifters.

This initiative seeks to recruit athletes from across Great Britain who have the strength, resilience, and determination to compete at the highest level.

Event Details

The Talent ID days offer aspiring para powerlifters the opportunity to showcase their skills and begin their journey towards elite-level competition. These events are open to individuals with disabilities, as we remain committed to inclusivity and creating pathways for everyone to excel in strength sports.

Talent ID Day Schedule:

5 October: Bangor University and Coleg Sir Gar, Graig Campus, Llanelli, (Led by Disability Sport Wales)

6 October: Strength Academy Wales, (Led by Disability Sport Wales)

15 October: Loughborough University (Powerbase Gym)

9 November: ParalympicsGB Discover Day - Sheffield

Expert coaches will be on hand to assess each participant's physical abilities, strength, and potential for development. Sessions are free to attend, but registration is required.

This Talent ID campaign offers a unique chance for para powerlifters to be noticed by top coaches and begin their journey within British Weight Lifting’s development programmes. Not only will participants receive professional feedback, but they may also be offered opportunities to enter our pathways for future training and competition.

With the support of Disability Sport Wales and the Welsh Powerlifting Association, this campaign is key to our mission of nurturing talent at all levels and building a community of para powerlifters who can represent the Great Britain on the global stage.
