Commonwealth Championships team England announcement 2023

British Weight Lifting (BWL) is pleased to announce a team of five athletes who will represent England at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Federation (CWF) Commonwealth Championships, which takes place between 11-16 July in Delhi, India.

The team is as follows:

• W59 – Jennifer Tong
• W81 – Deborah Alawode
• M73 – Jonathan Chin
• M102 – Cyrille Tchatchet II
• M109 – Andrew Griffiths

The athletes will be supported by coach Dave Sawyer over the course of the event.

BWL National Coach Dave Sawyer commented “This will be the first Commonwealth Championships England have been able to attend since the Gold coast in 2017. We are excited to be sending a small but strong group of lifters to represent us in India. Three athletes competed at the games in Birmingham 2022 and will be looking to better their rankings twelve months on! We wish all athletes and coaches the best of luck with their final preparation for the event.”
