BWL Southern Regional Youth Series Success
Saturday 10 November saw the BWL Southern Regional Youth Series take place at Bullpen Fitness, Worcester.
The competition saw 22 Lifters from 4 different clubs across 3 categories take part, including 6 development, 10 Women’s Youth and 6 Men’s Youth.
The Talent Pathway Manager for British Weight Lifting Stuart Martin commented, “It was fantastic to see 10 new lifters taking part and enjoying the sport, the athletes were aged between 8-16 years old and it was brilliant to see parents and spectators in attendance. It was a very positive event which I hope will continue to grow in size”.
The competition saw four new British Record holders:
- Kiera Richards (u15) – w40kg Category
- Snatch – 33 (u15 & u17 records)
- Clean & Jerk – 42 (u15 records)
- Total – 75kg (u15 records) – matched the u17 standard
- Charlize Richards (u15) – w59kg category
- Snatch – 45kg (u15 records)
- Clean & Jerk – 57kg (u15 records)
- Total – 102kg (u15 records)
- Laura Helyar – Women’s 71kg category
- Clean & Jerk – 80kg
- Total – 142kg
- Stefano Cataldi (u15) – m81kg category
- Snatch – 100kg (u15, u17 records)
- Clean & Jerk – 127kg (u15, u17, u20 records)
- Total 227kg (u15, u17, u20 records)
