BWL selects Joymo to power live streaming

British Weight Lifting is delighted to announce that it has secured a 10-year deal with Joymo that sees the leading direct-to-consumer sport streaming platform become our long-term Official Broadcast Partner.

BWL selects Joymo to power live streaming

The new partnership follows trials at recent British Weight Lifting competitions including our flagship annual event – the British Championships – in January this year.

Now, powered by Joymo’s live streaming technology, fans in the UK and around the world will be able to watch selected elite BWL events, live and on-demand across multiple connected devices.

Discussing the partnership, British Weight Lifting COO Kath Leonard, said: “The lift-by-lift coverage of our flagship championships earlier this year proved hugely successful and we are excited to formalise our relationship with Joymo for the long-term. We know that fans of the sport want to be able to watch more elite events and we are delighted to be extending our broadcast services thanks to this partnership.

“Providing live coverage for all our major competitions is a huge step in our aim to engage more people with the sports of weightlifting and para-powerlifting and making our elite-level competitions and athletes more accessible. Joymo’s streaming solution enables us to make entire events available for fans to watch wherever and whenever they choose, in a single and easily accessible online destination. This long-term partnership is a clear commitment and a key pillar in driving the future success and growth of our sport.”

Commenting on the agreement, Mike Emery, CEO of Joymo, said: “We are thrilled to extend our relationship with British Weight Lifting and look forward to powering the organisation’s direct-to-fan broadcast ambitions for the next decade.

“In recent years, BWL, and many other sports rights holders, have faced the  dilemma of needing robust data collection and data analysis tools to grow their audience and participation, whilst having to rely on the simplicity and unsophisticated nature of free social media streaming services.

“Joymo will not only empower BWL to take greater ownership of their broadcast operations and reward fans with more live events and better quality coverage, we will help them to navigate the task of using data to grow the sport as a whole.

“We commend the leadership team at BWL for the vision they have shown in signing this long-term agreement with Joymo and look forward to working with more like-minded governing bodies and rights holders who are committed to driving change in their sports”, Emery added.
