BWL Open Series 1 Results

The first event of the 2021 British Open Series was a success given the ongoing lockdown restrictions in place across the country with 36 lifters taking part from home across the various age group categories.

The competition was run online with lifters submitting pre-recorded videos which were adjudicated and certified by licensed BWL Technical Official. Each round is scored on points which take into account a lifters bodyweight to allow comparisons to be drawn across different divisions.  

Benedict Milson of Ronin Barbel topped the Men’s Senior standings by lifting 291kg to score 320 Sinclair points. He finished 6 points clear of Glasgow City’s Jonathan Biggin while Luke Mander of Warwickshire rounded out the podium positions with 299 points.

In the Women’s Senior Standings Hannah Crymble of Asylum currently occupies first place after lifting 183kg which earned her 246 points. Nicola Stiddard sits second on 225 points followed by Katrina Feklistova on 205.   

David Steel got off to a flying start in the Men’s Masters event, scoring 298 which places him well clear of the field with an advantage of 89 points while Synergi’s Faye Pittman topped the Women’s Masters standings with a score of 221.  

James Richardson took top spot in the Men’s Youth competition as the sole entrat with 267 points while Jersey Weightlifting’s Jorja-Leigh Clark narrowly edged out her fellow club member Gabrielle Proper by 2 points in the Women’s Youth competition.  Ivey Mai Miller topped the development event with 96 technique points.
