BWL Announces Two New Independent Board Members

British Weight Lifting (BWL) is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Independent Non-Executive Directors (iNED), who take up their positions with immediate effect.

Following a highly successful recent recruitment campaign Rebecca Wainwright and Josh Payne have both been appointed as per 31.2 of the BWL articles for an initial four-year term.

Rebecca Wainwright is a senior leader with considerable Executive Committee/Board and Trustee experience and a track record of advocacy for women and diversity. She brings proven expertise in strategic management, corporate governance, operational risk, partnership management, and board effectiveness gained as a COO and from a successful career in FTSE 100 Financial Services. She is also an active Masters competitor and coach with a passion for the benefits provided by sport in terms of creating diverse communities and supporting physical and mental health.

Josh Payne currently holds two roles in Rugby Unions namely, General Manager of the newly formed Celtic Challenge under the Irish Rugby Football Union, Welsh Rugby Union and Scottish Rugby alongside World Rugby, & Head of Strategy at Premiership Women’s Rugby. As a graduate from the University of Exeter with a Masters in Business Administration, Josh has nearly a decade of experience in High Performance sport. With this BWL iNED role, he will be responsible with working with Home Nations, Sport Development, and Stakeholder Relations in particular.
