British Weight Lifting stands together with the people of Ukraine. Our thoughts are with the Ukrainian people and our colleagues in the weightlifting and para-powerlifting family.

British Weight Lifting fully supports the decision taken by the EWF Executive Board to revoke the right of Russia to host the 2022 EWF Youth &U15’s competition. 

In light of the atrocities being committed by the Russian Government and facilitated by Belarus following the invasion of Ukraine, BWL has written to the IWF, EWF, the IPC and WPPO urging them to ban Russia and Belarus from hosting any International competitions and to suspend all athletes and officials from both countries from international IWF, EWF, IPC and WPPO events with immediate effect and until the current crisis is suitably resolved.
