British Weight Lifting Regional Youth Squad Trials

British Weight Lifting are pleased to announce that our Pathway coaches are running squad trials later this month to recruit new squad members.

British Weight Lifting Regional Youth Squad Trials

The squads are aimed at athletes who are aged 12 - 17 years old on 31 December 2021.

British Weight Lifting pathway squads have 2 main objectives

  • To make sure that young British weightlifters have a strong understanding of the fundamentals of the physical, technical, psychological and lifestyle skills that must be developed to help them achieve long-term success in the sport.
  • To bring young athletes together to enjoy their journey and learn from each other.

Each region is split in to two types of squads

  • Regional development squads – for less experienced young athletes taking their first step on the pathway, meeting up to four times per year to introduce athletes to the fundamentals of becoming a Complete British Weightlifter.
  • Regional talent squads – for more experienced young athletes who have been on the pathway for more than one year, meeting up to eight times per year to support athletes to develop the fundamentals required to become a Complete British Weightlifter.
