The British Championships, a key qualifier for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, got off to a fantastic start this morning.

Here is a summary of the results so far.

Men’s Categories

In the men’s 55kg class

  • Gold went to Benjamin Hickling who lifted 189kg. For the Snatch he lifted 82kg but missed 85kg on the second and third attempt. For the Clean & Jerk he lifted 103kg, followed by 107kg but missed his third attempt lifting 110kg.

In the men’s 61kg class

  • Gold went to Kieran Stiles who lifted 215kg. On the Snatch he lifted 96kg on his first attempt but then missed 101kg on the second and third attempt. On the Clean & Jerk he lifted 119kg but missed 123kg on his second and third attempt.
  • Silver went to Yegeun Ji who lifted 212kg. Yegeun snatched 88kg on his first attempt, missed 92kg but was then successful on this third lift at 92kg. For the Clean & Jerk he lifted 113kg, 117kg and 120kg.
  • Bronze went to Stuart Shilliday who lifted 176kg. For the Snatch he lifted 72kg, 76kg, but missed his last lift where he attempted 80kg. For the Clean & Jerk he lifted 95kg, missed 100kg, but was successful at 100kg on his third attempt.

In the men’s 67kg class

  • Gold went to Chris Freebury who lifting 253kg. On the Snatch Chris lifted 111kg, 116kg and 118kg. For the Clean & Jerk he successfully lifted 135kg but then missed 139kg on both his second and third attempt.
  • Silver went to Antonio Capavanni who lifted 201kg. On the Snatch he lifted 91kg but missed his second and third attempt. On the Clean & Jerk he missed his first attempt lifting 106kg but was then successful lifting 106kg on his second attempt and secured 110kg for his final lift.

In the men’s 73kg class

  • Gold went to Jonathan Chin who lifted 285kg. On the Snatch he lifted 117kg, 121kg and 124kg. For the Clean & Jerk he successfully lifted 156kg and 161kg but missed his final lift at 164kg.
  • Silver went to Jack Oliver who lifted 284kg. On the Snatch he lifted 127kg, 131kg and 133kg. For the Clean & Jerk he lifted 151kg but then missed 154kg and 155kg.
  • Bronze went to Michael Farmer who lifted 281kg. On the Snatch he lifted 122kg, 125kg and 127kg. For the Clean & Jerk he lifted 151kg, missed 154kg but was success at 154kg for his final lift.

Women’s Categories

In the women’s 49kg class

  • Gold went to Hannah Powell who lifted 151kg. On the Snatch Hannah lifted 64kg, 67kg and then missed 70kg on her third attempt. For the Clean & Jerk Hannah successfully lifted 84kg on her first attempt but then missed 86kg on the second and third attempt.
  • Silver went to Lisa Tobias who lifted 142kg. On the Snatch Lisa missed 58kg on the first attempt but then got 58kg on the second lift and secured 61kg on the third lift. For the Clean & Jerk she lifted 77kg, was unsuccessful on the second lift at 80kg but got 81kg on her third attempt.

In the women’s 55kg class

  • Gold went to Fraer Morrow who lifted 195kg. On the Snatch Fraer lifted 83kg on her first attempt, missed 86kg on the second attempt but was success at 86kg for her third lift. For the Clean & Jerk Fraer lifted 105kg, 109kg, but missed 112kg on her third lift.
  • Silver went to Catrin Jones who lifted 188kg. On the Snatch Catrin lifted 80kg, missed her second lift at 82kg but was successful on her third lift at 83kg. For the Clean & Jerk Catrin lifted 100kg, 103kg and 105kg.
  • Bronze went to Jane Lee-Isted who lifted 161kg. On the Snatch Jane lifted 68kg, but missed 71kg on the second and third attempt. For the Clean & Jerk she lifted 89kg, 91kg and 93kg).

In the women’s 59kg class

  • Gold went to Jessica Gordon-Brown who lifted 197kg. On the Snatch Jessica lifted 83kg, 86kg and 90kg. For the Clean and Jerk Jessica lifted 103kg, missed 107kg on the second attempt but was successful at 107kg on the third lift.
  • Silver went to Olivia Blatch who lifted 185kg. On the Snatch Olivia lifted 80kg, 83kg and 85kg. For the Clean & Jerk Olivia missed 100kg on the first and second attempt but was successful on her third lift.
  • Bronze went to Hannah Crymble who lifted 173kg. On the Snatch she lifted 75kg, missed 80kg on the second attempt but was successful on the third lift. For the Clean & Jerk Hannah missed 93kg on the first and second attempt but was successful on her third lift.
