British Age Group Championships to have three platforms

British Weight Lifting (BWL) is delighted to announce that for the first time ever, three platforms will be in use at the British Age Group Championships between 9 - 10 September at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds.

The additional platform is the result of overwhelming interest in this youth weightlifting competition with over 70 athletes currently on the waiting list.

In recent years BWL has seen growing interest in its national competitions with entries filling up quickly and waiting lists for athletes becoming the norm.

British Weight Lifting Head of Events, Maggie Lynes has commented “Response to this competition has been fantastic. Since coming into the role in January, I have seen an overwhelming response to all our competitions. A third platform at this event will make sure we can accommodate everyone. It will also be a great test to see how three platforms work together for future British Weight Lifting events.”

“The huge waiting list posed a good problem to us and we didn’t want to let people down. The introduction of a third platform shows how British Weight Lifting is evolving and listening to members, athletes, coaches and parents to ensure that everyone gets their time on a competition platform.”

Please note, due to the number of people currently on the waiting list for the British Age Group Championships, all additional places that the third platform has created, have been filled. Despite a closing date of 30 July, all places for the British Age Group Championships have now been filled and therefore the event has now closed.
