2023 IWF World Youth Championships GBR team announcement
British Weight Lifting (BWL) is excited to announce a team of two athletes for the 2023 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Youth Championships.
The IWF World Youth Championships will take place between 25 March – 1 April 2023 in Durres, Albania.
BWL is pleased to announce that Asees Dhanda and Silver Ee have been selected to represent Great Britain at the event.
Asees will lift in the female 49kg category, and Silver Ee lift in the male 67kg category. Both athletes are due to compete on Monday 27 March.
The athletes will be supported by Team Manager Kristian McPhee, Coach Julie Morrish and Head Coach Rhodri Thomas.
Kristian McPhee, Home Nations Pathway Manager, commented on the team selection. “The World Youth Championships will be Asees Dhanda’s and Silver Ee’s first world level competition after both taking their initial steps on to the international stage at the European Youth & U15’s last year.
Silver will be looking to improve on his recent bests as he moves into his final year at youth level. Asees still has three more years as youth level and so will be a great experience to build upon after winning bronze at the European Under 15s 2022.
Both athletes recently attended the National Youth Squad at Nottingham as they prepare for the English Age Groups where both British record holders will utilise this competition as preparation for the World Youth Championships.”
