WEIGHTLIFTING WALES - PERFORMANCE PATHWAY MANAGER, PART TIME

Weightlifting Wales is looking to appoint a part time Performance Pathway Manager. The work location is flexible. The salary is £30,900 per annum for 0.60 FTE (Actual £18,540 per annum)

THE ROLE

As Performance Pathway Manager you would lead and work as part of a team to help drive our strategy for building champions and to support in other strategic areas: developing our people and working together.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Building Champions

Work with Board’s performance sub-committee to review and deliver all aspects of the Weightlifting and Para Powerlifting performance and development pathways, to include selection, policy drafting, athlete funding and talent campaigns.

Responsible for planning the Weightlifting and Para Powerlifting training and international competition programme for elite and developing athletes.
Develop an inclusive athlete development pathway, creating environments where athletes and coaches can thrive.
Work with Sport Wales to plan development and performance projects which support athletes, coaches and parents.
Developing our People

Build and lead a coaching workforce.

Provide guidance to coaches for planning and reviewing individualised training programmes for funded athletes.
Mentor coaches supporting the Weightlifting Wales pathway to ensure their continued development.

Working Together

Support partnership-building with key stakeholders, developing academy programmes and talent-transfer pathways to and from Weightlifting Wales.
Manage relationships with colleagues at Disability Sport Wales, Commonwealth Games Wales, Sport Wales, UK Anti-Doping and British Weightlifting.
PERSON SPECIFICATION

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in working within multi-disciplinary teams to support athletes and integrating sport science, sport medicine and training programmes. They will have experience of generating, implementing and monitoring plans and budgets.

A sound knowledge of international level competition circuits, training methodologies, principles behind the long-term development of athletes and knowledge of sport science are essential requirements.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, with the ability to inspire, organise and motivate others. They will build and maintain relationships and have the ability to manage many projects simultaneously.

They must have a valid driving license, enhanced DBS, a valid safeguarding certification and obtain a British Weightlifting coach license within 6 months of starting in post.

Being goal oriented, a good team player, having an ability to develop trusting relationships and demonstrating integrity and high ethical standards are essential attributes.

Being a Welsh language speaker and experience of coaching weightlifting and Para Powerlifting would be desirable, but are not essential.
