Governance and welfare
Strong governance underpins everything we do at British Weight Lifting. It gives our members, athletes, coaches, clubs and partners confidence in how we operate, how decisions are made and how we are held accountable.
Our governance framework sets out the structures, policies and responsibilities that guide BWL, ensuring we operate with integrity, transparency and a clear focus on the future of our sport. Here you can find information about our Board, committees, policies and key governance documents.
Everyone belongs in our sport
We believe strength is for everyone. Our Diversity and Inclusion Plan sets out how we are working to make weightlifting a sport where everyone feels welcome, valued and able to take part, whatever their background, identity, ability or experience.
It outlines our commitments and actions to remove barriers, broaden participation and create a more inclusive culture across British Weight Lifting and the wider weightlifting community.
NB Our DIAP is currently being updated and will be available in November.
Safe, Supportive and Strong
The welfare and safety of everyone involved in weightlifting is at the heart of what we do. Our Welfare and Safety Plan sets out our commitment to creating a safe, supportive and respectful environment for athletes, coaches, volunteers, officials, clubs and everyone who takes part in our sport.
It outlines the standards, safeguards and actions we have in place to protect people, promote positive experiences and ensure everyone can find their strong with confidence.
