Coach and Technical Official Licensing
It’s important for weightlifting coaches and officials to hold a Licence with British Weight Lifting. This demonstrates to athletes, parents and other partners that you meet the minimum expected standards to coach or officiate in the UK. A licence costs £40 and is valid for 2 years. You can apply for your licence from your Membership profile – it takes just a few minutes.
What you need
To be eligible to apply for a Coach or Technical Official Licence, please ensure you hold the following:
- ‘Club’ or ‘Unattached’ British Weight Lifting membership
- Proof of your BWL recognised L2 Coach or Technical Officials qualification*
- Proof of completing a basic Safeguarding qualification* (for example UK Coaching’s Safeguarding & Protection Children course (online classroom. Courses can be completed online but must be interactive, e-learning is not accepted)
